(Kaieteur Sports) – The 2025 Big Man Cricket Guyana Over-40’s T20 tournament, bowls off today with a triple-threat across the Ancient County, and in Essequibo; with tons of exciting encounters set for the next few days.
Sponsored by Lewis Contracting & Asphalting Services and Permaul Trading & Distribution, the 2-Zone competition will feature some 15 teams playing in the respective Pool A and Pool B. the competition will be contested under its usual round-robin format with teams having their fair share of battle against every other competitor.

The competition also boasts a high-prolife feel as a few local players will use this tournament as part of their preparation for the upcoming inaugural Over-40 T20 World Cup, set to be hosted in Pakistan year-end.
Former Guyana and West Indies players the caliber of; Narsingh Deonarine, Mahendra Nagamootoo, Royston Crandon, Devon Clements, to name a few; will be a part of the historic cricket event.
Today’s opening round will see Legend Rangers playing Albion Masters at the #73 Ground in Match 1. The 2nd Match hosted at the Jai Hind Ground, features home team Jai Hind Jaguars welcoming the visiting GT Royals to the fray.
Meanwhile, Match 3 held at the Berbice High School Ground, shifts focus to the matchup between the EX-Berbice Police squad, tackling the Blairmont Hunters, as part of Round 1’s Pool-A action bowling off from 13:00h respectively.
Pool B will also host three opening round battles with, Match 4 being a tussle between Essequibo Masters and VNS Cricket Club at Reliance Ground.
The 5th Match features Black Hawks hunting the North Soesdyke Masters AT Canal #2 Ground, while the 6th and final match of the opening round at Belle Vue, will see West Bank Warriors combating the Vintage Strikers.
Action will continue on Sunday and with six additional games, as teams look to secure their spots in the key positions leading up to the finals.
