Kaieteur Sports – Contrasting half-centuries from Nicholas Pooran and Alex Hales powered the Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) to a commanding 56-run victory over defending CPL champions, the St Lucia Kings, last evening at the Guyana National Stadium, Providence.

The win booked TKR’s spot in tomorrow’s highly anticipated final against arch-rivals and home favourites, the Guyana Amazon Warriors, in what promises to be a mouthwatering clash.
Taking first strike after losing the toss, the Knight Riders piled up 194-4, with Hales anchoring the innings with a classy unbeaten 58 that included four sixes and two fours.
Pooran provided the fireworks, blasting four maximums and five boundaries on his way to a blistering 50 off 32 deliveries.
The duo added 73 runs together before Hales forged another crucial 69-run partnership with skipper Kieron Pollard, who chipped in with 35 off 26 balls, decorated with four sixes.
Andre Russell then applied the finishing touches in typically brutal fashion, hammering 28 from just 12 balls (1×4, 3×6) during a rapid 50-run stand with Hales.

Despite tidy spells from Roston Chase (1-12), Khary Pierre (1-24) and Alzarri Joseph (1-36), the Kings’ attack struggled to contain TKR’s relentless batting.
Chasing 195, the Kings faltered against disciplined bowling. Tim Seifert fought hard with a valiant 57, while Johnson Charles (19) and Tim David (28) offered brief resistance.
But Sunil Narine spun a web with 3-18, while Usman Tariq’s fiery 4-35 ensured the Kings never threatened, eventually closing on 138-8 after 20 overs.
The result not only ended the Kings’ title defence but also set the stage for a fitting CPL finale…Trinbago Knight Riders versus Guyana Amazon Warriors, a clash of Caribbean cricket giants, right in Providence.
