Guyanese Teams Shine on Day Two of Paragon International Hockey Tournament

Kaieteur Sports – Day Two of the Paragon International Indoor Hockey Tournament in Trinidad & Tobago saw the Guyanese contingent, Saints Hockey Club, Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC), and the Multilateral Alumni Team, continue to make their mark in the junior and open divisions with impressive performances.
Saints Hockey Club’s Under 17 Girls recorded a convincing 3–0 win over Ventures, with goals coming from Carenza Copeland, Makaylah Poole and Kadence Belony. Later in the day, they faced a tough test against Magnolia and were edged out 1–0, their first loss of the competition.
The Under 17 Boys also impressed, defeating Pro Sport 2–0 thanks to goals from Oswald Fraser and Mustafa Ali, who each registered their first strikes of the tournament.
In the Under 21 Girls division, Saints fought to a hard 0–0 draw against Magnolias, with both defences standing strong in a tightly contested encounter.
GCC’s Under 17 Boys enjoyed mixed fortunes on the day. In their opening match, they recorded a solid 2–0 victory over ProSport, with Grant Fernandes and Shane Luke Sargeant getting on the scoresheet.
Later, they were held to a 0–0 draw by InSports, in a match that highlighted the team’s resilience but also the need for sharper finishing in front of goal.
The Multilateral Alumni Team earned a memorable win in the Under 21 Boys competition with a 2–1 victory over InSports, demonstrating strong determination and teamwork.
In the Open Men’s category, however, they fell 0–3 to the TT Defence Force (TTDF), who displayed their experience and tactical edge at this level of play.
Day Two underscored the growing strength and competitiveness of Guyanese hockey across multiple age groups. With victories recorded by all three clubs, Guyana’s junior and senior players continue to show promise and resilience against quality regional opposition.
