Former Guyana youth player Raja Pooran scores 57 in Canada

Kaieteur Sports – Former Guyana youth player Raja Pooran expressed delight with his outstanding performances in Canada so far.

The right-handed batsman Pooran representing Reliance Lions in the continuation of the 2025 Ontario Masters Softball Cricket Clubs Over-40 T20 competition.

Last Sunday Pooran, who played for city-team Gandhi Youth Organization in Georgetown, scored an impressive 57 not out and also took 2 wickets for three runs from maximum three overs.

His team Reliance Lions won by 5 wickets at Dean Park venue in Scarborough, just in the vicinity of the famous city of Toronto.

Pooran struck six sixes and two fours during that half-century.

In the previous Sunday, Pooran also produced an excellent all-round performance leading Reliance Lions to victory. He made 28 and claimed three wickets with his team coming out victorious as well.

Pooran, who is set to represent West Indies Masters team at the T20 World Cup in Pakistan next December, stated that he is confident of doing well in North America when the action continues August 10.

Reliance Lions have so far chalked up six victories from nine matches while they suffered three defeats. Reliance Lions are currently sitting at number 3 on the points’ standings. Eight teams are participating. The tournament is slated to climax September 7 with the grand finale.
