Kaieteur News – A 32-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday after being found with a bag containing nearly eight kilograms of cocaine at Beterverwagting, East Coast Demerara.
The suspect, identified as Morris Cameron was apprehended during an operation conducted by ranks of the Customs Anti-Narcotic Unit (CANU).
According to CANU officers acted on information received conducted an operation in Beterverwagting, where they intercepted Cameron carrying a bag. Upon inspection: “ several parcels containing a quantity of whitish powdery substance suspected to be cocaine,” CANU said in a press release.
Cameron was taken into custody and escorted to CANU headquarters along with the suspected narcotics. The substance was later weighed and confirmed to be 7.860 kilograms. Investigations are ongoing.
