2025 GCB Men’s U-17 2-Day Trial Match…Mohabir-led Team B grabs first day honours, as practice bowls off ahead of Regional Championships
– lead Team A by 67-runs
B Team Captain Dave Mohabir warmed up with first innings figures of 3-9 yesterday.
Kaieteur Sports – The Guyana Under-17 team heightened their encampment as their 2-Day trial match bowled off yesterday at the LBI Cricket Facility, with Team B taking the edge over the A Team heading into today’s final bout.
Batting first, Team A led by Richard Ramdehol posted a meager 107 in 44.5 overs, allowing 12 their players to have a go at getting some in-match form ahead of the championships.
Johnathan Mentore (23), Dave Seegobin (16), Arif Kahn (11) and Eron Benjamin (20) managed to get themselves going during the first innings.
B Team skipper, off-break spinner Dave Mohabir locked up the batting with figures of 3-20, pacer Darwin Joseph (2-9) and leggy Feaz Baskh (2-9) were the pick of the bowlers.
A wicket each for Shane Prince, Dennis Crossman and Reyaz Latif each helped to further solidify a brilliant bowling effort by Mohabir and company.
At Stumps Team B, 174 all out, gained a solid 67- run lead after reaching their first team 50 with two key wickets down.
All-rounder Emmanuel Lewis carried his team’s batting charge.
Mentore, Benjamin and Gibran Yacoob each picked up two wickets as part of Team A’s bowling mission to slow their opponents down.
After losing opener Lomar Seecharran (8) and number 3 batsman Jathniel Nurse (6), Vishal Williams (19) and Emmanuel Lewis consolidated as their side trailed by 57 runs when Tea arrived.
Lewis struck seven fours in his 37 which was followed by a brisk 28 (4×4) from all-rounder Bomesh Lall to help the B Team wipe their deficit of runs and post a lead heading into stumps, with a defiant Prince carrying his score to 33 (3×4 2×6).
