Kaieteur News – Thirty-six-year-old Bradley Sampson, known as “Doggie,” was on Friday slapped with six charges when he appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.
The businessman and father of 14 appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Faith McGusty who read the charges.
Sampson pleaded not guilty to the charges which alleged that on July 15, 2025 at the Square of the Revolution he unlawfully wounded Genista Fordyce. It is also alleged that he used obscene language and threatening behavior towards Fordyce.
Sampson was also charged for allegedly behaving disorderly in a public place, unlawfully carrying a firearm in public and possession of an unlicensed firearm, which all occurred on the same day at the said location.
The charges stemmed from a dispute over payments that persons had to receive from We Invest in Nationhood (WIN).
Sampson was represented by attorney Jevon Cox who requested bail. The lawyer told the court that his client willingly turned himself in after he was made aware that he was wanted by the police and upon his arrival he was only made aware of three allegations.
Cox told the court that the charges were filed based on a viral video where what appeared to be a gun was seen in Sampson’s possession. However, the lawyer told the court that no gun was recovered and the police in no way can confirm whether there was indeed a gun.
Additionally, the attorney told the court that Fordyce, who was absent, did not wish to proceed with the matter and that the police is going against the wishes of the virtual complainant (VC).
Further, Cox said that no marks of violence were seen on Fordyce’s body.
Meanwhile, the prosecution objected to bail arguing that Sampson committed an offence while on bail for another. The prosecution told the court that according to Fordyce’s statement she was fearful for her life.
Notwithstanding the prosecution’s arguments against bail, Magistrate McGusty granted Sampson $10,000 bail for the disorderly behavior charge, $10,000 for the obscene language charge, $20,000 for the threatening behaviour charge, $50,000 for the unlawful carrying of a firearm charge, $30,000 for the unlawful wounding charge and $150,000 for the possession of unlicensed firearm.
Sampson’s total bail amounted to $270,000.
The matter was adjourned to August 15, 2025.
