‘One Guyana’ Stage of Champions Pro-Card Qualifier powers off today

Kaieteur Sports – The spotlight turns to muscle, might, and motivation today as the prestigious 2025 ‘One Guyana’ Stage of Champions Bodybuilding and Fitness Championship officially gets underway at the National Cultural Centre.

More than just a display of physique and dedication, this year’s edition carries historic weight, it marks the first time in Guyana’s bodybuilding history that Elite Pro Cards will be awarded on home soil. The event, sanctioned by the International Bodybuilding Federation (IBF), promises not only high-level competition but a pathway to professional success for the nation’s top athletes.

This evening’s main events will see elite strongmen and women from Guyana and neighbouring territories flex their way through popular divisions such as Mr. Bodybuilder, Mr. Physique, and Miss Bikini/Wellness. But perhaps the most anticipated addition to the programme is the brand-new Youth Bodybuilding Competition, which promoter Videsh Sookram says will “take the event by storm.” This exciting new division, powered by Camille’s Institute, aims to introduce the younger generation (mainly students) to the sport and set a foundation for long-term development.
“Plans are on stream for what we are considering the biggest show here,” said Sookram during a pre-event media briefing on Thursday. “It’s big because it’s the first time we will be able to hand out Pro Cards here, and with those cards come big money for athletes.”

The winners of the marquee categories Stage of Champions Bodybuilding, Men’s Physique, and Bikini, will receive Elite Pro Cards, opening doors to international competitions and lucrative opportunities.

The Guyana Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation (GBBFF) has partnered closely with the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport and the National Sports Commission to bring this landmark event to life. Sookram praised both institutions for their “steadfast support,” acknowledging their role as mega partners in promoting bodybuilding across Guyana.

Prize money for this year’s championship is as impressive as the physiques on display. The overall bodybuilding champion will take home $600,000, while the winners of the Men’s Physique and Miss Bikini categories will each receive $300,000. Admission is set at $5,000.
