Guyanese Alick, Mahabeer, Bishundial guide Curacao to victories in Colombia
The successful Curacao team
Kaieteur Sports – Guyanese Stephen Alick, Vick Mahabeer and Kumar Bishundial turned in commendable performances to propel Curacao Cricket team to four consecutive victories in Colombia, recently.
The trio, along with fellow Guyanese Hemraj Garbarran and Karamchan Persaud appeared as guest players for Curacao on their tour to the South American nation.
In the opening game which was played at Los Pino Polo Club, Curacao defeated Medi Calli by 93 runs. Curacao batted first and posted a challenging 224 for 1 from their allotted 20 overs.
Devon Gurdyal slammed an attacking 103 which contained three fours and 12 sixes, while Alick hit an unbeaten 82 with two fours and six sixes.
Bowling for Medi Calli, Abbas (only name given) took 1 for 45 from four overs.
In Reply Medi Calli mustered 131 for 8 in 20 overs.
Chimmayah (only name given) made 57 with two fours and three sixes.
Bowling for Curacao, Mahabeer claimed 3-19 from four overs, N. Blair had 3 for 20 and Bishundial took 2 for 14.
Curacao beat Bogota by seven wickets in their next encounter at the said venue.
Bogota batted first and managed 111 for 7 in 20 overs. South African born Chris Lucas struck a fine 71 not out with seven fours and five sixes as Bishundial claimed 3 for 7 and Garbarran had 2 for 12. Curacao replied with 113 for 3 in 11.2 overs. Alick made 37 not out with three sixes while Chetram Balgobin scored 30 and Kumar Bishundial 21 not out. Lucas took 2-22.
In other matches, Curacao defeat Bogota Coast by 140 runs with Alick scoring 74 not out and Mahabeer taking 3 for 10 bowling for Curacao.
Curacao defeated Bogota Indians in their fourth and final game to remain unbeaten. Garbarran (45) and Karamchan Persaud (34) were their leading batters while Mahabeer grabbed 4 for 15 from 4 overs, bowling for the victors.
Alick was the highest run scorer with 220 runs while Mahabeer was the leading wicket taker with 11 scalps.
