Archibald joins Williams in the record books
Kaieteur Sports- It was yet another record-breaking moment for Guyanese athletics, as Emanuel Archibald etched his name alongside Daniel Williams in the growing list of national trailblazers setting new standards in track and field.
Daniel Williams’ 10.06s is the new National 100m record.
Archibald, long revered for his prowess in the long jump, further solidified his place among the nation’s all-time greats in the discipline.
Competing at the prestigious Atlanta City Games, the Jamaica-based athlete unleashed a massive leap of 8.22 metres in the Men’s Long Jump, shattering his previous Guyanese national record of 8.12 metres, which he had set in 2019.
Just days earlier, on May 11, another Lindener made history on the track.
Daniel Williams, a former standout of Mackenzie High School, sprinted into the record books by clocking 10.06 seconds in the 100 metres.
Emanuel Archibald reset his National Long Jump record to 8.22m.
In doing so, he erased Archibald’s previous national record of 10.09 seconds, becoming the fastest Guyanese ever over the distance.
