Shattas meet Botafago, Capital FC battle Milerock in semifinals of Mice / Jermaine Futsal Championship tonight
Kaieteur News- The battle for the winners’ top prize of $700,000 and trophy will be heightened tonight (Thursday) when Botafago match skills with Silver Shattas in one semifinal and the other brings together Milerock and Capital FC in semifinal matches of the Mice/ Jermaine Linden futsal competition at the tournament venue, the Retrieve Hard Court in the bauxite mining town of Linden.
It boils down to the penultimate day tonight, as these teams are in the money since the losing semifinalist will pocket $400,000, third place finisher $200,000 and fourth gets $100,000.
In the quarterfinals Silver Shattas shot their way past Eagles United, 5-3, as it was 2-2 midway through that contest.
In that victory Silver Shattas top scorer Jamaine Samuels blasted his way to four goals, and Jehu Regis netted the other goal for the winners. For the losers Akeem Nieuinkirk had a brace and the other goal was registered by Kemani Fields.
Shattas will now face Botafago, who hammered Net Rockers, 6-4 following them being ahead 3-2 at the half time.
For the victorious Botafago side, Shamar Caesar netted four goals as teammate Malachi Todd and Jashawn Moore each netting the other goals for the winners. For Net Rockers, double strikes came from Kelroy Anthony and Joel Isaacs.
Also reaching the semifinals were, Milerock, who disposed of Coomacka 8-4, behind hat-tricks from Colwyn Drakes and Amaniki Buntin as Allan Halley and Mickel Tappin hit in single strikes.
Doubles were scored by Ateba Edmondson and Jamal Whyte but their side Coomacka suffered a heavy loss.
In another quarterfinal clash, Capital FC put away the challenge of Winners Connection by a 3-2 margin with Devonte Tappin netting twice as Omarion Ramsammy hit Capital FC’s other goal.
Anthony Layne and Ronic Veloza got the two goals for Winners Connection.
After tonight’s semifinals the final and third place playoff games will be played matches at the Retrieve Hard Court on Sunday.
