Kaieteur Sports – A classy half-century from Shamaine Campbell set up an 8-wicket win for Guyana, who continued their winnings ways against Jamaica as the Women’s T20 Blaze continued across St Kitts yesterday.
Guyana beat Jamaica by 8 wickets
Stefanie Taylor missed out on a vital half-century, but still top-scored with 48 off 49 balls with 5 fours. Natasha McLean (27) and Keneisha Ferron (20) were the other top run-getters for Jamaica, who posted 109-6 in 20 overs batting first.
Guyana’s bowling continued to peak as seamer Cherry-Ann Fraser bagged 3-18, while Ashmini Munisar and Flaffianna Millington each returned 1 wicket. Veteran Shamaine Campbell then cracked 5 fours in her unbeaten 50 off 49 balls, which piloted the chase.
West Indies batter Shabika Gajnabi hit some good form, crafting 37* from 46 with 3 fours to help Guyana finish on 110-2 in 18 overs. Right-arm medium pacer Celina Whyte continued her god form with the ball, being the lone wicket-taker for her team with 2-11.
Trinidad and Tobago beat Leewards by 6 wickets
A solid batting innings earlier on by Leewards failed to do justice to their final score as they only managed 120-5 in 20 overs. Divya Saxena (37), Amanda Edwards (26) and Jhazara Claxton (36) led their team after the Trinidad pair of Anisa Mohamed (2-21) and Kirbyina Alexander (2-12), kept things in order.
Chasing 120, Trinidad & Tobago eased to 121 for 4 after Britney Cooper (21), Shunelle Sawh (26), Shalini Samaroo (20) and Anisa Mohammed (19*) all came to the party in a big way.
Bowling for Leewards saw Amanda Edwards, Rozel Liburd Jenison Richards and Kimberly Anthony each claiming 1 wicket, as their side perished.
