Return of the Scorpio’ Pro/Am Int’l C/ships…
Kaieteur Sports – With less than three days remaining before the eagerly anticipated ‘Return of the Scorpio’ Pro/Am Card at the National Gymnasium on Mandela Avenue, the official weigh-ins and pre-fight press conference will be staged on Friday and Saturday respectively at the 704 Sports Bar on Lamaha and Albert Streets.
Promoter of the fight night Seon Bristol stated, “The messages and correspondences have been sent out to the relevant authorities and stakeholders. The pre-fight press conference will be held on Friday at noon at the 704 Sports Bar, and will feature most of the boxers. Additionally, the weigh-ins will occur on Saturday at 5pm also at the 704 Sports Bar. Everyone will certainly be there for that.”
According to Bristol, “Everything is in place and all systems are a go. All that is left or remaining to do is to turn the lights on at the venue. The first fight will start at 7pm. The card will be live-streamed internationally on various social media platforms and it will be an electrifying evening of action.”
Dexter ‘De Kid’ Marques will co-headline Sunday’s card
Tickets can be purchased at the sole location of Hot & Spicy Creole Corner. The prizes are: VVIP $10,000, VIP $6000, Ringside $3000, and Stands $1000.
The ‘Return of the Scorpio’ Pro/Am Card is viewed by many pundits as the biggest fight card in more than a decade and is expected to exceed the overall quality and ambiance of the universally acclaimed Patrick Forde Memorial Championships, which is the benchmark for a local boxing event.
Five exciting professional bouts which will be headlined and co-headlined by Elton Dharry and Dexter ‘De Kid’ Marques respectively, as well as an amateur section of equal quality, are confirmed for the fight card.
Dharry will make his return to the ring against Ramos Ronald in an eight-round Bantamweight fixture whilst Marques will enter the squared circle against Luis Carrillo in an eight-round Super Bantamweight encounter.
A Caribbean rivalry will also resume as Terrence Adams will battle Barbadian Ricardo Blackman, while Anthony Augustin will oppose Emmanuel Anderson of Barbados. The card will also feature a six-round Super Flyweight bout between females Natalya Delgado and Darianis Garcia.
In the amateur segment, Jamaica’s Britney MacFarlane is the confirmed opponent for local star Alesha Jackman whilst Trinidad and Tobago champion Lee Ann Boodram will engage Abiola Jackman, the sibling of Alesha.
The May 21st fight night will mark Dharry’s return to the ring in over a year and will serve as a tune-up for his July encounter on local shores with Hugo Hernandez of Mexico for the WBC Silver Belt. Dharry, 37, fought for the WBA Super flyweight title in 2019 but suffered a controversial ninth-round stoppage loss to Australian Andrew Maloney in Melbourne.
