Kaieteur Sports – In the latest action of the Guyana Football Federation (GFF), National Milling Company (NAMILCO) Thunderbolt Flour Power Intra-Association Under -17 Football League contested on Monday with an intense double header between Mahaica and Melanie, and Beterverwagting (BV) Triumph versus Victoria Kings. BV defeated Victoria Kings 2-1, while the match between Melanie and Mahaica match ended 0-0.
The first match between Mahaica and Melanie ended with a 0-0 scoreline. Both teams fought hard but neither of them were able to penetrate a goal at the end of the ninety minutes of regulation time. They both displayed strong defence on the pitch, they also missed several scoring opportunities which led to the match to ending 0-0.
Meanwhile, in the other match between BV Triumph and Victoria Kings, saw the BV side netting their first goal; two minutes into the match. The couple of fans in attendance rose to their feet as Isaiah Ifill rifled home a ball into the back of Victoria Kings’ goal to put his team in early command of the match. At half-time, BV were one goal ahead with the score at 1-0.
In the second half, Jahiem Harris then increased BV’s lead in the 54’ with a superb shot at goal to give his team a 2-0 lead over Victoria. The resilient Joshua Payne lifted the confidence of the Victoria posse when he netted Victoria Kings’ first goal, seven minute later but their chances were short lived as the match ended 2-1 in favour of BV Triumph.
The NAMILCO Thunderbolt Power U17 League continues today at the Buxton ground, East Coast Demerara. Start time 15:30 hours.
