Kaieteur News – Two men and a woman were on Monday arrested for the illegal possession of two firearms found in separate bedrooms of a house located at New Amsterdam, Berbice, Region Six.
A police report identified the detained individuals as a 47-year-old self-employed woman of Queenstown, New Amsterdam, the owner of the house; a mixed race male welder, 30, from West Canefield, East Canje Berbice, and a mixed race male farmer, also age 30, of Adelphi Village, East Canje, Berbice.
Police arrested the suspects after conducting a search exercise at the woman’s home around 18:15hrs.
During the search, ranks discovered two illegal .32 Pistols in the woman’s bedrooms with live matching ammunition. One of the guns was found under a mattress and the other on top of a wooden vanity. According to police, the two detained men were inside the woman’s home when the guns were located.
