(Kaieteur News) – Police are investigating a serious road accident that occurred at about 08:45hrs on Monday, June 1, 2026, along the Kumaka Public Road, Moruca, Region One, involving motorcycle CR 3340 and motorcar PPP 9918.
According to preliminary investigations, the motorcycle, driven by a Lance Corporal of Police attached to La Parfaite Harmonie, West Bank Demerara, was proceeding west along the southern side of the roadway when the motorcar, driven by a 55-year-old councillor of Haimaruni Village, reportedly turned right into its path.
The motorcycle subsequently collided with the front right side of the motorcar, causing the policeman to be thrown onto the roadway.
The injured motorcyclist sustained multiple injuries about his body and was assisted by public-spirited citizens, who transported him to the Kumaka District Hospital. He was examined by a doctor, treated, and admitted as a patient. His condition was reported as stable.
A breathalyser test administered to the driver of the motorcar found no trace of alcohol in his system.
Police investigations into the circumstances surrounding the collision are continuing.
