Dear Editor,
Kindly allow me a little space in your newspaper to highlight the plight of parents at New Market Primary School in Region Six under the present headteacher. An incident occurred on Wednesday where the parent of a Grade Six student was present in school in the vicinity of the testing area during the NGSA Mock Examination. This would not have been an issue if the child was not in contact with the parent during this time. This happened for the entire day. The headteacher refused entry to certain parents and in some instances even asked the parents to leave the compound. Certain Parents are not allowed to be in the compound during the lunch breaks
The Grade Six class has an online chat capturing an exchange of words where the parent in question was abusive and disrespectful. The headteacher proceeded to remove parents from the group who responded to the abusive parent. Calls to the Department of Education went unanswered. Sir, this headteacher is rude and abusive to parents; always siding with those who can do favours for her.
Something needs to be done about this. It is unfair that the office is being abused simply for one person’s selfishness.
Yours sincerely,
Trevor Raghubir
