Dillon Boucher, who once hurled a bench at a magistrate, and is awaiting trial for the murder of another inmate, sustained injuries around 19.00 hrs last night after setting a mattress alight in the New Amsterdam Prison.
A prison official said that the fire was quickly extinguished.
According to the official, Boucher was later treated for lacerations. It is unclear how he sustained his injuries.

The siblings had also wounded a police detective in the Cove and John Station shortly after their arrest.
In July 2017, Boucher and two other prisoners were charged with the murder of Neshan Jagmohan, 27, who was stabbed to death in the New Amsterdam Prison.
They were also charged with the attempted murder of Ramnarine Jagmohan, the slain man’s brother.
