ndia teams in action in August at the Guyana National Stadium. This assurance was made during a meeting with Prime Minister Moses Nagamootoo to discuss matters of mutual interest towards the development and growth of West Indies Cricket.
Accompanying Skerritt were CWI’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Jonny Grave and CWI’s Logistics Manager, Fawaaz Baksh. The Prime Minister’s team comprised of the Director of Public Information (DPI), Imran Khan and Coordinator of the Governance Office at the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM), Tamara Khan.
The India team is scheduled to tour the West Indies in August following the Cricket World Cup which will commence next week in England.
Prime Minister Nagamootoo again congratulated Skerritt on his new appointment as the President of the Cricket West Indies.

people are passionate and unwavering fans of West Indies cricket and look forward to annual international cricket in our country. He assured Skerritt of the government’s commitment towards the development and growth of cricket in both Guyana and the Caribbean.
Prime Minister Nagamootoo revealed to the CWI president that the Government of Guyana will shortly embark on a multi-hundred million-dollar programme to upgrade dozens of grounds all across the country which will be used by various sports, most especially cricket, the national sport.
Skerritt congratulated the government on this initiative and expressed his gratitude to the Prime Minister for his hospitality as well as his sincere congratulations on his new appointment. He explained that while here for a short visit, it was necessary for him to engage the Prime Minister on his vast knowledge and involvement in cricket.
“I came here to pay tribute to your longstanding cricket interest, and you have always been a big cricket supporter,” President Skerritt said.
“Cricket is so powerful, cricket brings people together,” Skerritt stressed. He explained that he will be engaging the various cricket stakeholders in Guyana on the way forward for cricket governance in the country.
The two leaders also discussed matters related to the hosting of the Regional Under 19 tour.
