A second man has been charged for the murder of Marlon Seon Rodney, called ‘George’. Yesterday, Osafa Grundell, called ‘Safo’, was arraig
ned in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts where the charge was read to him.
The charge which was read by the Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan alleged that between April 25, and April 30, last, at Norton Street, Lodge, Georgetown, Grundell murdered Marlon Seon Rodney, called ‘George’.
The defendant was not required to plead to the offence after it was read to him as the charge was made indictable.
Attorney-at-law Mark Waldron and attorney-at-law Nigel Hughes will be representing the defendant in the matter. Attorney Waldron stated that his client is 39 years old, from Freeman Street, East La Penitence, Georgetown.
James Fraser, 21, called ‘Dab’ from Garnett Street, Georgetown appeared last week when the charge was read to him. He also appeared in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts before the Chief Magistrates Ann McLennan.
According to reports, Rodney, a 35-year-old taxi driver of Lot 71 Norton Street, Lodge, Georgetown, was involved in a heated argument with Grundell, Fraser and another man called ‘Curl Up.’
The defendants reportedly pulled out guns and discharged several rounds at Rodney, who was hit in the left leg. A passerby, identified as 24-year-old Shaquille Dion, of Joseph Pollydore Street, Lodge, was also shot in the process.
The injured men were rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) where Dion was treated and sent away, while Rodney was admitted in a critical condition. He later succumbed to his injuries.
Magistrate McLennan remanded Grundell to prison and instructed that he should return to court on May 21, 2019 for the continuation of his matter.
