and Limited Division champions when the Guyana Sport Shooting Foundation (GSSF) Practical Shooting Match sponsored by Orinduik Development Inc. was contested on Saturday last at the Timehri Shooting Ranges.
The match comprised of five challenging but fun stages and was conducted by Match Director Mr. David Dharry.
During a brief opening ceremony prior to the competition, Managing Director of Orinduik Development Inc., Mr. Brian Backer said that they are a private Security Firm based on the East Coast that specialises in aviation security and VIP personal protection.
Each division of the competition had its unique requirements and restrictions, as prescribed by the USPSA (United States Practical Shooting Association). The shooters do not directly compete with each other across divisions. As such, prizes were awarded for 1st to 3rd place in each division.
Stages included Bookout’s Boogie, Lots of Sand, Stage 95 Max, Fluffy’s Revenge 2 and Alternate.
Match results were announced as follows:
Production Division Limited Division:
1st Place – Ray Beharry (375.0000 Points) 1st Place – David Dharry (325.5765 Points)
2nd Place – Michael Blake (195.9057 Points) 2nd Place – Johan DaSilva (319.1012 Points)
3rd Place – Lancelot Khan (189.4942 Points) 3rd Place – Pravesh Harry (296.3801 Points)
The GSSF would is extending sincere gratitude to Mr. Backer and the Board of Directors of Orinduik Development Inc. for the kind sponsorship and support of the foundation’s activities and events.
Also recognised for their roles in ensuring a successful competition were the Match Director, Range Master, Stats Officer, Range Officers, shooters, the Guyana Defence Force, Chief of Staff Brigadier Patrick West, Commissioner of Police Mr. Leslie James, Deputy Commissioner of Police Ms. Maxine Graham, OC Mr. Guy Nurse, the ranks of TSU and the Guyana Police Force, the Media and GSSF members for their support in promoting practical shooting locally.
Mr. Harold Hopkinson was also recognised for the uses of his personal props, steel plates, poppers and targets stands for some of the stages.
