V and V Variety store backs Hunte Dominoes tournament

V and V Variety Store of 6 Unity Street, La Grange, West Bank Demerara has thrown their support behind David Hunte Dominoes tournament which is set for December 9 at 6 Middle Street,

Proprietor of the business entity, Anand Bharat, yesterday presented a cheque to Senior Organising Secretary of the Georgetown Dominoes Association Mark Wiltshire at his entity’s location.
Bharat, who plays cricket for popular softball team Speedboat, said he is pleased to be associated with the tournament and is looking forward to an exciting and successful one. He wished the teams well, while Wiltshire thanked him for the support.
Entrance fee is $12,000 and the winning team will take home a trophy and $150,000, runner up a trophy and $75,000 and third place $35,000. The MVP will be given $5,000 and double-six time is 13:30hrs. Interested teams can contact Wiltshire on 665-5855 for registration.
Meanwhile, Mix Up were crowned champions of the Faye Joseph and Wiltshire four-game tournament which ended on Sunday night at her Gaulding Place, South Ruimveldt residence.
Mix Up, who drew the bye to the final, chalked up 44 games to beat Thunder with 40 and Phantom on 39 in the final.
Ewie Gordon and Wiltshire made 11 and 10 games respectively for the winners, while Sky Taylor and Faye Joseph scored 11 and nine in that order for the runner up side. Rawl Peters marked 11 and Rawle Cameron made nine for Phantom.
Phantom won the semi final encounter against Thunder and All Season’s Racing Service. Phantom managed 43 games with Rawl Peters scoring 11 and Tyrone Ambrose nine. Thunder got 39; Ricardo Khan made 11 and Faye Joseph nine, while All Season’s Racing Service mustered 33. Dane Bynoe got 11 and Ronald Beharry 10.
Mix Up pocketed $45,000 while Thunder received $25,000 and Phantom $15,000.
