Days after a miner led detectives to a spot where he allegedly buried his lover after killing her earlier this month, he was yesterday charged and remanded to prison for the offence.
Trevor Anthony Alleyne, 27, of South Sophia Field, appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan where the murder charge was read to him.
It is alleged that Alleyne between October 1 and November 15 at Eye Lash Backdam, North West District, murdered Patricia Davis.
An unrepresented Alleyne was not required to plead to the indictable charge after it was read to him in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.
He was remanded for the offence and is expected to make his next court appearance on February 5, 2019, when he will appear in the Charity Magistrate’ s Court.
The decomposing body of Patricia Davis, which was wrapped in a net and a sheet of plastic, was found last Thursday in a shallow grave, some distance from a mining camp in which she had stayed with the Alleyne.
It was reported that Davis, who reportedly frequented the interior, was slain around October 1, last.
According to information, a hunter traversing the area dug up the remains last week Thursday after spotting what he suspected to be a shallow grave. He then notified the police.
Residents had reported that they had not seen Patricia Davis for some time.
Police then picked up her lover, who reportedly admitted to killing her. He also took police back to the scene.
Alleyne allegedly told investigators that he and Davis often quarrelled and on the aforementioned date the two had another argument, and he struck her several times with a piece of wood.
It was reported that the couple then went to bed, and when he awoke the following day, he found her motionless in his camp. He allegedly then wrapped her in a net and a length of plastic, and buried her some distance from his camp.
