The semi finals of the Berbice Cricket Board (BCB) Pepsi 50-Overs Round Robin tournament will be played tomorrow when Young Warriors host Port Mourant at the Cumberland Ground in East Canje while Rose Hall Town Gizmos & Gadgets would entertain Blairmont Community Centre at the Area ‘H’ Ground, Rose Hall Town.
Young Warriors played unbeaten to be at the helm of Zone ‘A’ while Blairmont advanced as the runner-up based on a superior run rate to West Berbice. In Zone ‘B’, three teams namely Rose Hall Town Gizmos & Gadgets, Port Mourant and Albion ended on the same amount of points, the top two teams were selected based on overall run rate and then net run rate.
RHT Gizmos & Gadgets had an overall run rate of 4.93 and net run rate of 1.48 while Port Mourant had 4.41, 0.90 and Albion 4.20 and 0.20, respectively. RHT Gizmos & Gadgets was declared winner of the zone and Port Mourant, runner-up.
Young Warriors would be spearheaded by the talented Alex Algoo, Seon Hetmyer, Vishal Mohabir, Kassim Khan, Suresh Dhani, Trevlon Stanislaus and Linden Austin while Port Mourant would depend on Skipper Joshua Ramsammy, Madan Budram, Loyydel Lewis, R. Carmichael, Samuel Kistasammy and Doorsammy Mahadeo.
The Powerful RHT Gizmos & Gadgets team which has been dominating Berbice cricket along with Albion over the past decade, under the captaincy of former National Under-19 skipper Shawn Pereira would start as favourites against Blairmont.
Pereira would be supported by his Vice Captain Clinton Pestano, Kevin Sinclair, Kevlon Anderson, Eon Hooper, Junior Sinclair, Keith Simpson, Surendra Kissoonlall, Sylus Tyndall and the hard hitting Vidal Crandon.
Blairmont with a number of promising youth players would be no easy walk over though and would depend on the experienced Shabeer Baksh to pull off a victory. He would be supported by Seon Glasgow, Nigel Deodat, Javed Karim, Marvin Prashad, Zaheer Naseer and Fawaz Gagoor.
