(Kaieteur News) – A 34-year-old man, who was previously charged in a high-profile abduction case, died on Saturday after crashing into a parked truck along Mandela Avenue, Georgetown.
Dead is Damion Barlow, called ‘Dangles’, of Lot 2, 61B Field Sophia, Georgetown. Barlow was charged in 2024 for the abduction of Joshua David, also known as ‘Bricks’.
Barlow was accused of abducting David on September 26, 2024, along Main Street, Georgetown, with the intent to secretly and wrongfully confine him. David is yet to be found.
Reports indicate that Barlow was speeding when he lost control of the vehicle, skidded over the median, and crashed into a parked truck on the opposite side of the road. Barlow was pronounced dead at the scene.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
Barlow, along with six others, were charged in connection with the abduction. However, due to insufficient evidence at the time and ongoing investigations, a Magistrate granted each of the accused $500,000 bail.
