A man will now join his friend in prison after he was yesterday charged and remanded to prison. He was caught attempting to smuggle marijuana to a prisoner at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts Lock-ups.
Twenty-nine-year-old Earl Morian is accused of attempting to traffic a quantity of narcotics to murder accused, Kerwin Dos Santos, who is currently on remand.
Morian denied the allegation which stated that on October 25, last, at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts Lock-ups, he unlawfully introduce a quantity of cannabis into the Court lock-ups.
He appeared before Senior Magistrate Leron Daly in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.
Police Prosecutor, Dinero Jones, made serious objections to bail being granted to Morian citing the prevalence of the offence and the penalty the charge attracts.
Facts presented by the Prosecutor stated that on the day in question, Morian took a box containing food for the murder accused.
An officer on examining the food observed several transparent Ziploc bags containing a quantity of leaves, seeds and stems.
Morian was then arrested, taken into custody, and charged for the offence. The Prosecutor’s objection was upheld by the Magistrate and Morian was remanded to prison.
The unrepresented man was instructed to make his next court appearance on November 23.
