Two teens among trio arrested for pensioner’s murder
(Kaieteur News) – Three persons have been arrested after a 69-year-old man was found dead on Tuesday at his Parker Street, Providence, East Bank Demerara (EBD) home.
The dead pensioner was identified as Mohammed Shaheed, called “Fizal” or “Artist”.

An autopsy conducted on his remains found that he died from brain hemorrhage due to multiple blunt traumas to the head. The findings have led police to believe he was beaten to death sometime between Saturday (May 16), and the day he was found dead.
Police said, “Through diligent investigative work, intelligence gathering and the use of available technology, investigators were able to advance the investigation and identify several persons of interest”.
“As a result, a 19-year-old construction worker of Parker Street, Providence, East Bank Demerara and a 22-year-old porter of Back Street, Peter’s Hall, East Bank Demerara were arrested and placed into custody on Monday May 25, 2026,” police further disclosed.
On Tuesday, police also arrested a 17-year-old also of Parker Street, Providence. Police learnt that Shaheed was last seen alive around 21:00 hrs on May 16. On May 19, after calls to his phone went unanswered, relatives visited his home where he was found dead.
Police noted that there were no signs of forced entry at Shaheed’s home.
His body was found in a state of decomposition.
