DEAR EDITOR,
A fire engine or a fire truck is a vehicle designed primarily for firefighting operations. The terms ”fire engine” and ”fire truck” are often used interchangeably; however in some fire services they refer to specific types of vehicles.
The primary purposes of a fire engine include transporting firefighters. They may also be used for various other uses, such as emergency, medical services and rescues from situations other than fires.
Our own Guyana Fire Service has a fire engine at its Diamond location and for a long time now, the fire engine when responding to night calls seems to have electrical problems – no flashing lights at front top, only two very bright headlamps and to the rear a right side unit is workable. It may well have other problems, but as a concerned citizen, I would like the fire engine’s important faults fixed. It may avoid another calamity.
Yours sincerely,
Paramanand Ram
