Over 15 youths from the Kuru Kururu Small Business Association, a newly formed group in the community, showcased what they have to offer to the village through an exhibition held yesterday in the NARIE compound, Kuru Kururu.
The Expo, said Sasha Morrison, the organiser of the event and founder of the Kuru Kururu Small Business Association, is to allow youths in the community to showcase their different skills, talents, products and also the services available in the community.
There were locally made agro-processed items, party planners, make-up artists, and decorative window printing of logos on tee-shirt among many exciting things happening at the Expo.
After noticing that there was not much “going on” for youths in business development in the community, Morrison, along with other members in the Association, decided to develop their community through entrepreneurship.
In addition to the youths from the community, Guyana Marketing Corporation, Sol Guyana, Guyana Telephone and Telegram and other huge companies were also invited to the Expo.
“The support was great, our items are sold out,” said one exhibitor. She told this publication that she was surprised at the response and hopes that the Association holds another exhibition.
Diana Dodson, a representative from the Guyana Marketing Corporation, who had a booth, which showcased local agro-processed items, said she is happy that the people of the community came out and supported the youths.
She said that, apart from marketing what Guyana’s agro-processors have to offer, the team from GMC is also giving persons at the Expo information on how they can elevate their packaging and inviting them to visit the area to get more information to better their products if needed. The Expo catered for persons of all age groups.
