Speaking at the ceremony, Khan said he is happy that they could get the full support from the Minister and the Department of Culture, Youth and Sport to sign off the agreement. “It is an integral part for us to be able to host the games in Guyana. We are happy to bring CPL to Guyana once again, it has been one unifying force that brings the people together, we have had some tremendous support from the Guyanese public in the past and we do look forward to their continued support,” he added.
Khan stated that the agreement is essential to the local franchise, since it provides home advantage. Khan indicated that tickets for the games here could go on sale by the first week in July and the team will be encamped here from August 2-7.
Dr. Norton said that the Government of Guyana is excited to be a part of the tournament which has been deemed a success for Guyana over the years and they are hoping to have similar crowds in this year’s edition of the tournament.
