Rose Hall Town murder/robbery… Male employee confesses to crime, two more in custody

Investigators in ‘B’ Division late yesterday afternoon managed to get a confession from one of the suspects in custody for the murder of 53-year- old Security Guard, Munesh Prem Munien. The suspect is said to be one of the employees who reportedly began working at the Sukhram’s General Store and Agro Chemicals late last year.
Divisional Commander Lyndon Alves has since confirmed that two more were also arrested and an extension was sought and granted to allow the investigation to continue. A total of eleven suspects are now in custody as police continue to unravel the details of what took place that night when the store was robbed and Munien was murdered.
Police sources had confirmed that they received information that there was an attempted break-in at the store a week prior to the robbery/murder. Those in custody include a former employee and his parents. Investigators were working on the theory that employees would have been a part of the gruesome crime.
A door was reportedly left open at the front of the store and two employees were said to be responsible for closing the business in the afternoon.

Munesh Prem Ayasammy Munien’s battered body was discovered by police slouched on sandbags near the back entrance of the general store Saturday night. Munien who was a security guard for only a few months, was found with a gaping wound to his head, his throat slashed and his legs appeared to be broken.
The guard, who resided with his sister at Clifton Village, Port Mourant, Berbice some two villages away from his work site, left for work to begin his shift at 17:00 hrs on Saturday, as he normally would every day. He was the only guard on duty and was at the back entrance of the business.
This entrance could only be accessed through the front of the store. Approximately $1.5 M was also stolen from the business.
