Dem have some things people can’t understand and since dem boys is people, dem and all don’t understand. People paying fuh security guards to watch dem property but all de guard got is he two long hands. He don’t even have a whistle.
Of course, most of de security guards is women. Things reach de stage when bandits go in a yard and rape de security guard. All dis time de people sleeping upstairs and dem ain’t know nutten. Sometimes, dem have security guards who does get a gun. Bandits does go to de place and tek way deh gun.
Then you have de city police. Yesterday, some bandits mek dem look like stupidness. Three of dem deh at de La Penitence Market yet de bandits go and rob a vendor. Then dem shoot him right in front of de market police.
Now dem boys want to know, wha purpose de security guard and de market police serve? Of course, if a fire gon start dem gon wake you up. Dem boys believe dat is de reason why people hiring security guards; dem gon mek good fire alarm.
Most times de guard is somebody who got to keep he eyes open while odda people sleeping. But even when de guard got he eyes bright open de only thing he can do when bandits come is to hide. But he gun get in trouble because de police gun arrest him as an accomplice. And de people who house he guarding gon tell de guard service dat it got to pay fuh whatever lost.
Dat mean de only thing a security guard got in he favour is fuh either get tie up or beat up or killed. And is not dat when he get killed, he family getting any sort of money. One guard service call photographers and reporters fuh see him hand over $10,000 to a lady who husband get kill.
Dem boys wonder wha de people who hire de guard dat get kill in Berbice gon pay de family.
