The Guyana Football Federation (GFF) is hosting a four-day CONCACAF ‘D’ License Course for coaches in Guyana in an effort to build capacity among technical personnel. The programme began yesterday with an opening ceremony at Olympic House.
Among those who gave remarks at the opening were GFF’s Technical Director Ian Greenwood, President Wayne Forde and CONCACAF Instructor Anton Corneal and Andre Waugh who is the Manager of Development Caribbean.
The programme, while acting to train and certify the thirteen (13) ‘D’ License prospects, will also serve to certify three Prospective ‘D’ License Instructors – Sampson Gilbert, Bryan Joseph and Ian Greenwood.
Anton Corneal noted that the coaches have a very special and important job in the development of the sport since they mold the game’s output. Greenwood advised all the participants that they, “Should be open minded and ask lots of questions so you will know why you’re doing what you’re being asked to do.”
Meanwhile, head of the GFF, Wayne Forde expressed confidence of all the participants coming out certified after the programme’s duration. He urged them to stay focused because this is the first step towards a very promising and rewarding career.
