Everything is set and ready to go for Saturday’s One Million dollars shoot out at the Lusignan Golf Club (LGC) on the East Cost of Demerara commencing at noon and the organizers are hoping for ideal weather and a large turn-out.
Past President of the LGC and Proprietor Kissoon Furniture Store Mr Hemraj Kissoon said at yesterday’s launching of the Event and the handing over of the sponsorship cheque at the Industrial Site branch of Kissoon’s, that Kissoon’s has been associated with the LGC for over 50 years
The affable 81-year-old entrepreneur also disclosed he will be making a return to the sport he loves in Saturday’s Event, which is open to the public.
“When a business entity contributes to society in any way as we are doing today it should not be viewed as a favour, but as Cooperate responsibility, be it Sports, Culture, Education or any other area,” the down to earth Kissoon said.
He stated that the club members have united as one and showered praises on President of the Club Aleem Hussein and his hard working Executive for doing a wonderful job of keeping Golf in Guyana alive.
Hussein said this is the one of the biggest Sporting Events for the year, adding the winners from first to fourth will receive cash and medals along with vouchers to shop at any branch of Kissoon’s in Guyana.
Hussein informed that the top Guyana Golfers including Avinash Persaud along with females will be participating on a Course which in a fantastic condition.
“We want everyone to come out on Saturday, even if you don’t know to play Golf, come to see what it looks like, we will have people conducting beginner’s lessons there.
“We want the facilities at the Lusignan Golf Club to be of a very high standard and hope to have tournaments in which overseas Golfers will participate. With Oil soon coming we are encouraging those in the Business Community and top Executives to come out on Saturdays and Sundays to play,” Hussein said.
He also said the Club is planning a Winsor Estates tournament with former West Indies Cricketer Shivnarine Chanderpaul.
