Two former employees of Central Electronics were jointly charged yesterday for embezzling over half a million dollars from the company, when they appeared before Senior Magistrate Fabayo Azore in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.
Yvonne Goolcharan, 22, of Kaneville, East Bank Demerara, and Devika Ramkarran, 20, of Lot 87 Martyrsville, Mon Repos, East Coast Demerara denied nine joint charges which alleged that between November 2016 and June 8, 2017, they fraudulently embezzled $450,000, $9,000, $25,000, $10,000, $50, 000, $9,000. $9,000, $9,000 and $9,000, monies taken into their possession on behalf of their employer.
Goolcharan was charged separately for fraudulently embezzling $106,970 and $191,000, monies taken into her possession on behalf of her employer.
Goolcharan was granted bail of $230,000; while Ramkarran was released on $115,000 bail. They will make their next court appearance on September 26.
Attorneys-at-Law for the women told the court that their clients are not flight risks.
