(Kaieteur News) – Minister of Health, Dr. Frank Anthony on Friday joined residents of Eye Lash Village in Region One to commission a newly constructed health post.
According to information provided by the ministry, the health post forms part of the government’s commitment to equitable healthcare access across Guyana.
This newspaper understands that the newly commissioned facility is designed to provide essential primary healthcare services to residents within the community, and it includes a clinical section for patient care and a living quarter for healthcare workers, ensuring that medical personnel are readily available to serve residents.
Minister Anthony in his remarks at the commissioning ceremony said that the establishment of the health post reflects the government’s ongoing efforts to expand healthcare services, particularly in hinterland and remote communities.
The Minister noted that residents will now have easier access to vital services including vaccinations for children, maternal healthcare, and treatment for common illnesses, including malaria.
During his remarks he also commended the regional health team for their initiative in identifying the need and working collaboratively with the Ministry to make the project a reality.
“This facility will significantly improve the quality of healthcare available to the people of this community,” the Minister said.
