—released on $10,000 bail
Former murder accused Regan Rodrigues called ‘Grey Boy’ was yesterday released on $10,000 bail after being accused of threatening Donna Harcourt, the mother of slain political activist, Courtney Crum-Ewing.
Earlier this year, Rodrigues was discharged on a murder charge which alleged that he murdered Courtney Crum-Ewing on March 10, 2015, at Diamond, East Bank Demerara.
Magistrate Judy Latchman discharged Rodrigues citing insufficient evidence.
Rodrigues, a taxi driver, and father of three, appeared before Magistrate Dylon Bess yesterday, and denied the charge which alleged that on August 12, last, at Regent and Wellington Streets, Georgetown, he made use of threatening language towards Harcourt.
He was released $10,000 bail after Police Prosecutor Christopher Morris made no objections.
During his address to the court, Rodrigues claimed that it has been very difficult for him to get a job, because Harcourt continues to be in the media accusing him of killing her son, although he has been freed of the crime. According to Rodrigues, Harcourt and her family have made his life miserable by provoking him.
Nevertheless, the former murder accused will make another court appearance on September 18.
Kaieteur News had previously reported that police had been looking for Rodrigues the same day he allegedly threatened the woman but were unable to find him.
However, he was reportedly arrested last week and police held a confrontation between him and Harcourt on Thursday. It is alleged that Rodrigues threatened to “wipe out” Harcourt for accusing him of killing her son. Harcourt had told Kaieteur News that Rodrigues made the threats to her while she was standing at her stall at Regent and Wellington Streets, Georgetown.
