Investigators in ‘A’ Division are hunting for a lone gunman who raped a woman during a robbery at her home in North Ruimveldt, Georgetown, on Sunday morning.
The woman had just returned home from a party at Albouystown when she was attacked as she was about to enter her home.
According to information received, the young woman and her partner had just arrived home in a taxi when the driver indicated that he had no change for their $5000 note. The woman allegedly got out of the car and went into her home while her partner went with the driver to look for change.
Kaieteur News was told that just as the woman entered the yard, the gunman confronted her and took her into her home where he raped her.
The bandit forced his victim to perform oral sex on him before raping her. As he was about to leave, he collected the woman’s cash, phone and jewellery.
Meanwhile, the Guyana Police Force (GPF) reported that for the first two months of the year, there has been a 13 percent decrease in the number of reported cases. There were 48 reported cases as of the end of February, last, as compared to 55 for the same period last year.
