Imam Bacchus, Gunners, Devonshire Castle and Walton Hall have booked their places in the semi
finals of the Motielall, Jailall and Praboo Memorial T20 tournament after recording quarterfinal victories on Sunday last in North Essequibo.
Host Imam Bacchus SC beat Young Stars by 149 runs. Batting first, the host amassed 222-6 off 20 overs with Navindra Persaud scoring 58 (9×4), Parmesh Parsotam 47(7×4) and an unbeaten 46 (4×4, 4×6) from player Wayne Osborne. Young Stars, in reply, were dismissed for 73 in 17 overs with Suraj Lall making 25 (5×4). Medium pacer Ganesh Mangal took 2-11 from 4 overs as four batsmen perished via run-out route.
In the other match at the same venue, Gunners defeated Charity by 76 runs. Gunners batted first after winning the toss and made 193-6 from 20 overs. Damion Wharton made 38 (4×4) and Haiman Beharry 36 (3×4, 2×6) not out.
Charity SC were bowled out for 117 in the 20th over. Hassan Rahim got 28 (3×4) and Vickram Kanhai 20. Medium pacer Damion Wharton capped a good all-round performance by claiming 3-19 from 3 overs and Zavier McDonald had 2-14 from 4 overs.
In the other games played at the Walton Hall ground, Devonshire Castle defeated Police Sports Club by 10-wickets.
The Lawmen perished for a miserly 55 from 17 overs, batting first. Devonshire Castle in return hit off the required runs in 3.2 overs, Navin Horil struck an unbeaten 44 containing 7×4 and 2×6.
In the second game, hosts Walton Hall recorded a 73-run win against Young Achievers. Batting first, Walton Hall rattled up 220-5 from their 20 overs with former inter-county players Navin Bahadur scoring 51, Vishwanauth Lall 41 and Suresh Persaud 40. In reply Young Achievers made 176. Narendra Madholall made 77 (10×4, 3×6). Lall returned with the ball to capture 3-20 from 4 overs of off-spin.
Meanwhile the semi-finals will be played this weekend with Imam Bacchus SC facing Walton Hall while Gunners playing Devonshire Castle.
Both matches are scheduled for the Anna Regina Community Centre ground.
