A robbery accused was allowed to plead to six charges of robbery under-arms after he agreed to have the offences tried in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.
Adrian Daly of Albouystown, Georgetown, denied the allegations read to him by Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan.
It is alleged that on June 24, at Georgetown, while in the company of others and armed with a gun, he robbed Chen Hai Hang of $200,000, a total of 30 Digicel phone cards and another 50 Digicel phone cards all totaling $221,000—property of Lui Hui Jun.
Daly was also charged with five counts of robbery under-arms committed on July 24, at South Ruimveldt, Georgetown.
The particulars of the charges alleged that on the day in question, while in the company of others and armed with a gun, Daly robbed Tennicia Wills, Elizabeth Barclay, Diana Daniels, Tiffany Graham and Eulisa Wills of a quantity of items all totaling $775,000.
Police Prosecutor, Deniro Jones told the court that none of the items were recovered. He indicated that the case file is still incomplete and requested a short date to have it sent to the investigating rank for completion.
The Chief Magistrate adjourned the matter until September 14, for statements.
In another case, a 19-year-old porkknocker was yesterday remanded to prison for allegedly robbing a man with an ice pick.
Isaiah Daniels of Retrieve, Linden, pleaded not guilty to the charge which alleged that on June 24, at Mackenzie, Linden he robbed Shamar Savory of a tablet valued $55,000.
Prosecutor Jones strongly opposed bail for the teenager on the ground that he was positively identified on an identification parade. Jones pointed out the gravity of the charge and the prevalence of the offence in today’s society.
According to the Prosecutor, the defendant is a student of the Mackenzie High School.
Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan refused bail and transferred the matter to the Linden Magistrate’s Court for August 16.
