Dear Editor;
Reference is made to your front page photograph in your Monday June 27, 2016 Issue captioned “BEWARE OF TUMBLING POLES! This has been the situation recently on the Diamond Housing Scheme access Road where several utility poles have tottered dangerously during heavy rains”. Editor, the picture published reflects an incident which occurred during the morning hours on June 13, 2016 due to inclement weather conditions. Following reports of the leaning poles (as seen in your picture), the Guyana Power and Light Inc. emergency services responded promptly and effected temporary remedial work on June 13, 2016. These works included straightening and strapping the poles; permanent corrective works were later executed on Thursday June 23 during line maintenance activities within the entire Diamond Community. Please be guided accordingly.
