After their impressive 3-0 demolition of last year’s champions Amelia’s Ward Russians in their quarter-final matchup, High Rollers must not be seen as legitimate contenders for the title when semi-final action in the Guinness ‘Greatest of the Streets’ Futsal Competition is played this evening, at the Amelia’s Ward Hardcourts in Linden.
The action tonight promises to be intense as the teams battle for a spot in the final.
They face another formidable challenge when they engage Team 25 that has also put together a string of impressive performances with their recent being a 5-0 clobbering of Magic Stars.
The Rollers will be relying on the services of players such as Jamal Almons and Kendolph Lewis to lead their charge for victory, while Team 25’s pursuit of a place in the final rest on the performances of talisman Collie Hercules along with support from Romain Adams, Quacy Johnson and Ryan Noel.
In the other semi-final, Wisroc take on Classic 6 and this too promises to be a scorching affair with a winner proving hard to choose.
Deshawn Joseph and Omeion Wills will no doubt have a say in whether Wisroc progresses to the final, while Colwyn Drakes and Shane Luckie will be given similar responsibility for Classic 6.
The winning team is set to receive $400,000 and the championship trophy, while second, third and fourth placed finished will take home $150,000, $75,000 and $50,000 respectively.
With the Linden Town Week activities in full swing another large crowd is anticipated as teams’ battle for the ultimate prize.
