The mighty Albion reminded giant killers Police that they are arguably the best cricket club in Guyana by whipping them by seven wickets in their postponed semifinal encounter played at the picturesque Cumberland Cricket Ground in East Canje.
After winning the toss, the lawmen chose to take first strike and enjoyed a good start of 40 through openers Norwayne Fredericks and Brentnol Wolford. Trouble started when they lost Woolford off former West Indies youth left arm spinner Gudakesh Moti for 11. Police never showed any more resistance from there on with Moti leading the destruction with 5 for 19 off 10 overs. He was supported by Sri Lanka bound West Indies legs spinner Devendra Bishoo with 4 for 25. They were eventually bundled out for 88 off 27 overs.
In reply, Albion stuttered a bit losing national U-17 batsman Adrian Sukhwa for 7 with the score on 9. Balchand Baldeo followed for 12 and national wicketkeeper batsman Anthony Bramble also fell cheaply. Promising former Berbice under-19 middle order batsman David Latchaya joined forces with Bishoo and took their team home comfortably at 91 for 3. Bishoo showed off his batting skill with an unbeaten 36 and Latchaya provided solid support with 24 N.O.
The final is slated for Port Mourant on Sunday September 20 pending the outcome of a protest lodged by Port Mourant Cricket Club.
