Dear Editor,
Letter writers should seriously attempt to explore the collective details of the landscape they attempt to address outside of their intimate arenas and the sordid creatures they’re battling with. I am a father / grandfather; they all live in Guyana and are looking forward to a change of Government to transcend this dismal period of irresponsible Governance. Ms or Mrs. Shaw is implying that the coalition hasn’t given young people their History lesson.
I am struggling to understand the thought process that has evolved with this convoluted script. Which History do you think our young people are unaware of? Let me suggest; the Jagdeo/Roger Khan era, that saw several hundred Guyanese murdered, or the immediate period we live in, with joblessness and thousands of drug addicts across the nation, some committing psychotic crimes, or the sixties that envelopes Burnham and Jagan.
Go walk opposite the human services building; there you will see the destitute, the junkies and nobody cares, that is the history of the NOW! that they’re concerned about . If you’re a mother, you will understand that young people, and they’re all around me, they want jobs now. They’re interested in earning to eat.
They smoke drugs out of frustration, hopelessness and are disgusted by the nepotism of the PPP-Cult and its devotees; lacerated by scandals, dishonesty and chronic immoral behaviour. What History is Ryhaan Shaw talking about? David Granger has for nineteen years published ‘The Guyana Review, The Emancipation Magazine and numerous publications on the Village Movement and local history. At Austin’s there is a wide selection of local publications.
You should understand that our youth read, the coalition youth are on facebook , they drew my attention to issues, especially the current semi-literate racist babblings of a Minister’s daughter, who incidentally is a researcher at the Office of the President, is not qualified in anything and could not spell research.
Most of Guyana are working class, with families; they can’t jump on a plane if ‘Deh get belly wuk. They die in child’s birth, waiting for service at the free hospital because they can’t afford the paid ones, the young and their parents are all vulnerable. There’s no debate about Jaganites or Burnhamites, in Guyana today, it’s about getting out the crooks, the hungry band-waggoners and not allowing them to use tax payers money to fix their and theirs scams. The ideal now rests with the creation of the history of accountability, and pay back-jail time. Definitely, Ryhaan Shaw, you live in an ‘Other’ world.
