– Basdeo’s 6 for 17 not enough to stop Young Royals
A good all-round performance put in by Kwesi Mickle of West Canje highlighted the latest round of
matches of the 2015 New Building Society Second Division 40-Over Cricket Competition in Berbice. He firstly took 5 for 20 from 8 overs to help restrict Fort Canje Warriors to 165 in 38 overs. In reply, after West Canje lost a wicket without a run on a board, he came in at No.3 and with him losing partners at a steady rate, he held his nerve and steered them to a one wicket win, still there at the end on 86 not out which included 4 fours and 3 sixes.
No. 47 Pioneer off-spinner, Khemraj Basdeo took 6 for 17 from 6 overs but his effort failed to stop Young Royals of Crabwood Creek posting 199 all out in 28 overs, they having to thank Kishan Singh who hit 75 (4 fours and 4 sixes) and Rajendra Sukhave 62 (6 fours and 3 sixes), the two of them putting on 140 for the 3rd wicket, 42 extras were also conceded. When Pioneer replied they found the off spin of Gobin Sugrim (4 off 18) and Sukhave (3 off 14) too much and were bowled out for 84 in 13 overs.
Pacer Lakeram Jugesteer took 4 off 29 from 6 overs for Besty Ground Strikers to bowl out Goed Bananen Land for 95 in 21.4 overs, Besty Ground went on to win by 7 wickets.
No. 70 M.Y.O’s off spinners Jameel Assad with 5 for 17 from 6 overs and Imran Khan 4 off 24 for 5.2 overs helped bowl out No. 69 Vikings for 126, helping their team to eventually win by 2 wickets.
