Kaieteur Sports – Tucber Park Cricket Club U16 team whipped Mount Sinai CC by an innings and 61 runs when play in the Berbice Cricket Board (BCB) U16 Cricket Competition got underway in the New Amsterdam Zone. The competition format being played is a One-day with two innings a side.
In the game which was played at the Mount Sinai Ground in Angoy’s Avenue, Mount Sanai were asked to take first strike and were bundled out for a mere 74.
Doing the damage with the ball for Tucber Park was Berbice under-13 all-rounder Lemuel DeJonge, who picked up 4-15. He was supported by Niquan Fraser and Ashton DeJonge with two wickets each, while Adriel Samuels picked up one.
In reply, Tucber Park raced to 171-5 before declaring. Opening batsman Ryan McPherson led the charge with a polished 63. He got support from Lemuel DeJonge (27) and Dequan Lewis (15).
Facing a deficit of 97, Mount Sinai in the second turn at the crease had no answer to the Tucber Park pacers and were blown away for a paltry 36.
The destructive opening bowlers for Tucber Park, Kelvin Henry and Jeremiah Fraser, were unplayable as they bowled with pace and control, to both end with fifers. Fraser ended with figures of 5-16 while Henry had figures of 5-18.
