Shariff Stable best on show with three victories

to win the feature event at last Sunday’s Rising Sun Turf Club in collaboration with the People’s Progressive Party (PPP) Independence one day horserace meet at their Arima Park, West Coast Berbice track.
Classified as Guyana’s number one racehorse with a ranking of A1, the animal given the opportunity to compete, used the occasion to dish out a beating on its opponents, racing away with the feature A and lower 1400 M event. Piloted by 17 year old Ajai Sansarran, the Kentucky bred animal was in a class by itself.
Recognised for its devastating performances and blistering finish, however, the racehorses’ handlers decided to change tactics this time. Score’s Even wasted no time as the five horses were sent on their way, powering from the outside gate, the animal running as if possessed, with Ajai in saddle giving it full range immediately stormed to front lead.
Score’s Even ran with a body weight of over 1000 pounds and carrying a weight of 130lbs on it back. The horse gathered momentum early and with powerful strides distanced itself from its opponents with every passing stride.
Seemingly taking a breather around the far turn, its opponents may have had some encouragement, but the top horse soon hit the gas, galloping into the homestretch, cantering over the finishing line well ahead of the other horses by about eight lengths to claim the $1M top prize compliments of Banks DIH and the General Secretary trophy. Treacle finished second ahead of Got to Go and California Strike.
Swing Easy of the Shariff Racing Stable had a swinging day as it dominated proceedings to win two events to be crowned champion horse on show.
With Jockey Randolph Richmond on the perch the animal first took care of business in the D3 and Lower 1400M event with a blistering finish to win the $500,000 top money from Run Nana Run, Force Entry and It’s my turn.
Swing Easy with Richmond in the saddles returned to win the F1 and lower 1400M event and the $400, 00 winner’s money in similar fashion from Princess Alisha, Silent Night and Captain Crook.
Settling Jet of the Jumbo Jet stable with Brian Blake settled in front early as it upset the field in the event for Three-year-old Guyana and West Indies bred animals to take the $400,000 winner’s money from Unsettled, Shooting Star and Today is My Day.
Damascus Dream with Richmond on the hunch continued the dream day for connections of the Shariff stable as it raced away with the G3 and lower event and the $300,000 purse, beating Ameera’s Joy, Quiet Storm and Release the Beast.

Richmond rode Easy to Win of the Dookie stable to a comfortable triumph in the ‘I’ and lower 1100M race to take the $200,000 f prize from I Want Revenge, Famous Pride and Savion.
The J1 and Lower 1100M race saw De Gump of the Night Eyes Stable and ridden by Rupert Ramnauth, winning the $180,000 prize from, Royal Cash, Famous Pride and Little.
Jockey Randolph Richmond was adjudged Champion jockey with four wins, while up and coming rider Russel Chichester was adjudged top apprentice on show.
The Shariff Racing Stable raced away with the top stable honours, while Fazal Habibulla was the top trainer. They received trophies and other rewards compliments of the Trophy Stall.
A number of government and regional officials were in attendance. Over 80 horses took part in the day’s proceedings with over $6M being up for grabs.
