Kelvin Johnson followed up on his third place finish at the South American 10km Road Race Classic in Guyana last weekend when he won the Airborne Sonics 5km race in Arima, Trinidad and Tobago Saturday.
Johnson ran 15:45 to win while Lionel D’Andrade, another Guyanese who participated in the UWI Half Marathon for the first time last Sunday, placed second in Airborne Sonics 5k with a time of 16:07; Trinidad’s Curtis Cox (16:13) was third.
Both D’Andrade and Johnson are gearing up for three upcoming 5k races and will be using those as training for the Suriname Marathon on November 23.
