Kaieteur News – Today’s sitting of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) came to an abrupt end after APNU members walked out in protest over the attendance of Minister of Public Works, Juan Edghill, leaving the committee without a quorum.
The meeting initially convened with a full quorum, presided over by Chairman Vishnu Panday alongside committee members Gail Teixeira, Dr. Mahadeo, Suresh Singh, Ganesh Mahipaul, Juretha Fernandes, and Nandranie Singh.
Kaieteur News understands that tension erupted early in the session during Agenda Item No. 1, the review of minutes from the previous meeting, when Bishop Juan Edghill entered the room.
Kaieteur News understands that Opposition member Ganesh Mahipaul immediately took the floor to object to Edghill’s participation. Mahipaul argued that, in light of public scrutiny surrounding the recent MV Barima tragedy, Edghill should recuse himself from the committee and resign from his ministerial post. Fellow opposition member Juretha Fernandes backed the objection.
Government member Gail Teixeira dismissed the intervention as out of order, maintaining that the committee should proceed with its scheduled work. Chairman Panday ultimately ruled that Edghill remains a substantive minister and a duly appointed member of the PAC, allowing him to participate.
Refusing to accept the chairman’s ruling, Mahipaul and Fernandes withdrew from the proceedings. PAC rules strictly require the presence of the chairman, at least two government members, and at least two opposition members to satisfy a quorum, the walkout left the committee unable to conduct business, forcing an immediate adjournment.

A display of lack of respect , being unprincipled!!!
MH & JF apparently felt they are at a street corner political meeting in Georgetown!!!! It’s no surprise they have the characteristics of the PNC or the blackpudding instincts inherent in black pudding Professor, David Hinds!!!!
