Mackenzie High School was the sole winner on Wednesday afternoon when the Edward ‘Screw’ Richmond Memorial Schools Football Competition continued with two more matches, at the Wisburg Secondary School Ground.
They defeated Marcia Craig’s Educational Institute 2-0 with goals coming off the boots of Dameion Williams, who netted a brace in the 44th and 66th minutes of play, while powerhouse and tournament favourite Linden Technical Institute (LTI) got a big surprise after managing a 1-1 draw against New Silvercity Secondary.
Leading marksman Colwen David was once again on the scoresheet, hitting home in the 25th minute to give the favourites the lead, but Jonathan Fredericks gained the equalizer one minute before the break to place things back on parity and it stayed that way until the final whistle sounded.
Over at the Mackenzie Sports Club ground, Kwakwani Secondary School drew 1-1 with Wisburg Secondary School.
Rohan Nelson’s 10th minute strike had given the visitors the lead, but Trevorn Castang erased the advantage with his effort in the 33rd minute.
In the other game, LTI beat Kwakwani Secondary 3-1 with Clarence Huggins 15th and 69th and C. David 23rd minutes strikes leading the way for the winners, while Simeon Cort’s 66th minute effort was the lone consolation goal for the losers.
